Power Systems Engineers are experts in the large-scale generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power. They provide the power system research, development, and analysis required to integrate solar energy and other renewable technologies into the grid.
Power Systems Engineers may conceive, direct, or implement commercial and utility-scale solar power projects; evaluate the efficiency and safety of existing solar power systems; and collaborate with manufacturing engineers to test and document new equipment. Power Systems Engineers prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps for installation; compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation specifications; monitor installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications; and plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
